Comilla Sadar Dakshin Upazila, located on the side of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, mainly revolves around this road. Barpara union of this upazila has traditional pottery, bash and cane industries. Besides, one of the paddy markets of Bangladesh is located in Barpara union of this upazila. Farmers come to the market to buy and sell their paddy. Millions of rupees are transacted around this paddy market.
